Happy birthday my love... / The sight of you leaves me weak,there are no words left to speak...

35 years ago a wonderful man who changed the filmography and my life forever was born in the capital and largest city of Western Australia. Happy birthday Heath.

Heath Ledger was born on 4 April 1979. He and his older sister, Kate, are named after the two main romantic characters of the Emily Bronte novel, "Wuthering Heights". He had his first acting experiences at Guildford Grammar School, starring in a school production as Peter Pan at the age of 10. His parents separated when he was 10 and divorced when he was 11, but Heath stayed really close with his sister Kate. They later got two half-sisters: Ashleigh and Olivia. After sitting for early graduation exams at 17, Ledger left school to pursue an acting career. He took a small role in Clowning Around, the first part of a two-part television series, and started working on the TV series Sweat. He  also had parts in the television series Ship to Shore, the short-lived fantasy-drama Roar,  Home and Away, one of Australia's most successful television shows. But in 1999, he starred in one of the most famous teen comedies 10 Things I Hate About You (second photo) and in the acclaimed Australian crime film Two Hands (first photo).

From 2000 to 2005,he starred in The Patriot , Monster's Ball, A Knight's Tale, The Four Feathers, The Order, Ned Kelly, Casanova (one of my favourites actually), The Brothers Grimm and Lords of Dogtown.Ledger received "Best Actor of 2005" awards from both the New York Film Critics Circle and the San Francisco Film Critics Circle for his performance in Brokeback Mountain (photo below).He also received a nomination for Golden Globe Best Actor in a Drama and a nomination for Academy Award for Best Actor , making him, at age 26, the ninth-youngest nominee for a Best Actor Oscar. Isn't that quite impressive?

In the summer of 2004, he met and began dating actress Michelle Williams on the set of Brokeback Mountain, and their daughter, Matilda Rose, was born on 28 October 2005.They were together until 2007.

After Brokeback Mountain, Heath starred in Candy and I'm Not There. In his penultimate film performance, Ledger played the Joker in Christopher Nolan's 2008 film The Dark Knight (second photo below), released nearly six months after his death.For his work on The Dark Knight, Heath won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor with his family accepting it on his behalf, as well as numerous other posthumous awards.His final film performance was in The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus (first photo below).

Heath Ledger was found dead on January 22, 2008, at about 2:45 pm, in his apartment in the Manhattan neighborhood of SoHo, with a bottle of prescription sleeping pills near-by. It was concluded weeks later that he died of an accidental overdose of prescription drugs that included pain-killers, sleeping pills and antianxiety medication. The whole world was in shock.

I think that he was one of the best actors in history and he will surely be remembered.I mean, who could forget about this amazing person? He made us go 'wow' with his amazing performances in The Dark Knight and Brokeback Mountain but he was also such a sweet and down-to-earth guy.I swear that his smile could melt anybodys heart.I cannot express how much I love him and how much I wish he was still alive.But after all he has a special place in my heart and I will never get bored of watching his movies.
